Authorities in Germany and the Netherlands have taken action against an alleged Darknet drug operation in the border region. Three men, aged 33, 39, and 40, are currently under investigation. Two of them were arrested in Heerlen, Netherlands, on September 12, 2025, following international arrest warrants. One has already been extradited to Germany, while the other remains in custody in the Netherlands pending extradition. The third man has not been detained but is also under investigation.
Alleged Operation
Investigators claim the suspects conducted drug sales through Darknet markets over an extended period. Substances such as MDMA, ecstasy, and cocaine were allegedly shipped by mail to Germany. Reports suggest that mailboxes near the German border were regularly used to send packages, which allowed the operation to function across borders.
Raids and Seizures in Heerlen
In August, coordinated searches took place at three apartments and a boxing studio in Heerlen. During the raids, authorities seized large amounts of MDMA, ecstasy, and cocaine, with an estimated street value in the millions. A firearm and cash in the five-figure range were also confiscated. In addition, electronic devices and data carriers were taken for forensic examination.
Ongoing Investigations
The suspects were reportedly identified through IT-based investigations by the German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA). Around 45 officers were involved in the cross-border operation. The case is being handled by the Central Office for Cybercrime North Rhine-Westphalia at the Cologne Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Current Status
At present, two suspects are in custody while extradition proceedings continue. The third remains under investigation. The seized materials are undergoing further analysis as authorities attempt to establish the full scope of the operation.
