A Phoenix man, Adam Clift, has been sentenced following two related criminal cases involving allegations of drug distribution through dark web marketplaces and possession of child sexual abuse material. According to court and prosecutor statements, the cases stemmed from investigations that began in late 2023 and led to a combined sentence that includes prison time and lifetime supervised probation under sex offender terms.
Alleged Online Drug Operation and Investigation
Authorities stated that the investigation began in October 2023 after the United States Postal Inspection Service identified a vendor allegedly operating on dark web platforms and Telegram. The operation was said to be linked to Clift, who allegedly used the vendor names “The Collective” and “Safeway” while shipping parcels from Phoenix.
Investigators reported intercepting multiple packages containing methamphetamine that were sent to several states, including Texas, North Carolina, Ohio, and Utah. Prosecutors described the activity as a distributed drug trafficking operation that relied on mailed shipments and cryptocurrency payments, including Bitcoin.
Search of Residence and Digital Evidence
In May 2024, a search warrant was executed at Clift’s residence. According to investigators, the search resulted in the seizure of approximately one pound of methamphetamine along with smaller quantities of several other controlled substances, including cocaine, heroin, ketamine, MDMA, MDA, mephedrone, 2C-B, and fentanyl-related pills. Authorities also reported recovering drug distribution materials such as packaging equipment, scales, and sealing devices, as well as multiple electronic devices. On one of the devices, investigators stated they discovered video files containing child sexual abuse material.
Court Proceedings
Following the investigation, Clift was indicted in two separate cases. In the drug case, he faced multiple charges including conspiracy, illegal enterprise activity, and drug trafficking-related offenses, though he ultimately pleaded guilty to transporting methamphetamine for sale. In the separate exploitation case, prosecutors said he was indicted on multiple counts related to sexual exploitation of a minor. He later pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a minor and two counts of attempted sexual exploitation of a minor.
Sentencing
On April 9, 2026, Clift was sentenced in Maricopa County Superior Court. The sentence included 7 years for the drug trafficking charge and 12.5 years for the exploitation-related convictions. The terms are set to run concurrently, resulting in a total prison term of 12.5 years. Court records also indicate the sentence will be followed by lifetime supervised probation under sex offender conditions.
Conclusion
The case concludes two linked prosecutions arising from allegations of dark web drug distribution activity and the discovery of illegal sexual exploitation material during a search. The sentencing reflects concurrent penalties across both cases, with extended supervision set to follow completion of the prison term.
